History
Every company has a story. Ours started in 1989 in Gnosjö, Sweden – with a dedication to leather and craftsmanship that still defines us today. The timeline below captures the key moments that built RM Läder into the company it is today.
The beginning 1989
1989 – RM Läder was founded in Gnosjö, Sweden. A family business with strong roots in leather craftsmanship begins to grow.
1995 – RM Läder begins exporting, reaching it’s first international markets with leather belts.
2004 – Hong Ding is established in Asia with 250 employees.
2008 – Hong Ding expands to 400 employees.
2008 – RM Läder relocates to larger facilities to meet increasing demand.
2010 – Thomas takes over RM Läder from his parents.
2013–2014 – RM Läder invests in modern cutting machines. At the same time, Hong Ding grows to 800 employees and launches its leather business.
2017 – Hong Cen is established in Cambodia to broaden production capacity.
2023 – Pro pelli (Cambodia) is founded, specializing in belt leather and advanced finishing processes.
2024 – RM Läder and the Hong Ding group join forces. With production in both Sweden and Asia, our combined expertise strengthens global capacity, creating an international player built on over three decades of experience and a shared vision for the future.
